Want a better life?
What a flippant question 😉
From time to time, I think we all crave a “better life“.
But what does the term ‘better life’ mean for you?
Is it being less lonely at home?
Do you crave spending more time at home and less time at work?
Would a better life mean seeing more of your kids or getting out of a toxic relationship?
What Would A Better Life Mean For Me?
Experiencing Life Outside My Four Walls
I REALLY want to travel more.
I get such a kick out of being in a different place.
You know what? I don’t even need to go far to feel like I am leading a better life.
I just need to get away from the daily grind quite often, and I don’t do it enough.
Because I work alone from home, I tend to feel quite trapped being at home all the time.
I would really love to travel around the UK in a campervan, but I can’t afford one just yet!
I saw recently, when I was making a plan to lead a better life myself, that there are some really great alternatives to shelling out on a new vehicle to travel in.
Have you heard of Tent Box? Check out the Land Rover Roof Tent, or other vehicle options.
If you have a car or van, it’s simply a pop up box that attaches on the top, like so…

My goal is a campervan, or motorhome, but a Tent Box is a more affordable option.
I can just think of the romantic, beachside evenings under the stars already!
Even if I am alone! 😉
Getting More Active
Another thing I think will give me a better life is starting to get fit.
I feel awfully lethargic at times of the day, and I feel I need to recoup my energy somehow.
Being physically fit will help with the tiredness I am experiencing, and I will be able to have more stamina when it comes to work, and play.
So, for me, fitness and travel are my keys for a better life, so now I will start slowly to achieve these goals…
Start Slowly
Making big changes are difficult, and usually take time, so cut yourself some slack and start slowly but surely.
Sometimes it can feel overwhelming to start looking at areas of your life you want to improve.
But, there are still many small and easy steps you can take right now.
Take many steps, even small ones, and pretty soon you’re getting somewhere.
How To Get A Better Life Right Now
Start looking for specific ways to make your life better, and to improve yourself.
Do you need to adjust your work/life balance, but can’t afford to cut your hours?
How about looking for a job that pays a little more so you can?
Or consider a job that is closer to where you live so that you’re cutting down on travel costs and commuting time.
Would you like to feel more awake during the day?
It might be as simple as getting to bed earlier, or cutting out that glass of wine in the evenings.
Even if you don’t accomplish anything immediately, you are preparing yourself.
Thinking about change sets your mind and your motivation in motion.
You’re not looking for an excuse to avoid difficult tasks, but you wouldn’t expect to quit cigarettes, alcohol, caffeine and complaining all at once, right?
Just make things better today, in any small way.
Seeing results will motivate you for the more difficult steps.
Some Suggestions…
Consider some of the following simple actions.
Firstly, Write Down The Things You’d Like To Change
This makes the possibility more real, and gets your mind thinking in the right way.
Eventually you can turn your list into goals, so you can follow a specific plan of action.
When You Feel Stressed, Try To Close Your Eyes And Breath Deeply
Stress is one of the biggest impediments to a better life.
Stress challenges you pysically and mentally, and is one of the very first things you should try to tackle.
Of course, identifying the stressors is the first step to improving the way they make you feel.
Simple stress-manangemeet techniques like this can help a lot, if you make them a habit.
List The Good Things
This may seem cliche, but generally, a good mood makes life better.
Ever dye your hair blonde and start seeing blondes everywhere?
The same thing happens when you buy an idea.
Imagine how it will affect your frame of mind to start seeing good things everywhere.
It’s Now Over To You
The point here is to get YOU thinking, and then taking whatever actions you can.
If you thought about the whole process and the end goal first, you might shy away from actually achieving the goal because it’s too overwhelming.
If you start at the very beginning, and work your way through your plan, you’ll certainly get there.
You’ll feel very proud of yourself!
And that feeling will be very justified!
You can do this!
